Taking a picture that doesn’t suck.

Here learn all the tips and tricks to keeping your film happy, the differences between shooting inside vs outside, and how to handle your developing pictures.

Temperature tantrums.

Polaroid Film contains unique chemistry which bring your pictures to life. It’s very high tech, but here’s what you need to know: Do not eat. If your film gets too hot, anything above 28°C / 82°F your undeveloped film blushes pink. Ideally store it in an insulated cooling bag when on the move. If your film gets too cold, anything below 13°C / 55°F your undeveloped film catches the blues, literally. Keep it snug as a bug in your jacket.

How to check temperature.

Normally people know the temperature by checking the weather forecast. Typically they look at a weather app or watch the local TV report. Now over to Ryan for sports.

Shooting inside vs outside.

Shooting inside vs outside.

Think about five things before you take a picture: Light, the flash, your distance, parallax and your subject. Make sure the light is behind you so your subject is properly lit. Use flash when indoors. That’s it. Just do it. Please? It’s good to stay approximately 40 cm away. Also known as 15 inches, one arm length, two bowling pins, four oranges or a snake’s striking distance away. Correct your shot for parallax. The viewfinder doesn’t look through the lens, so to center your pictures move a little to the left or look over the lens barrel). And communicate with your subject well. Meow meow meow, meow meow meow meow. Meow!

Developing your photo.

Developing your photo.

You see the frogs tongue that pops out over your photos. That’s the film shield. It protects your developing film from light. Wait ten seconds then flick it up from the bottom. No pulling, it's attached. Now, whatever you do, do

not shake your developing picture. We know it's fun, and we wish it worked, but it can actually ruin the chemistry of your developing picture. Thanks André 3000 for absolutely nothing. Next, hide your picture in a cool, dark place.
